Kindle — The Blind vs. Amazon

You’d think that blind people would be a static about the Kindle. It’s a device for reading books — and activities usually reserved for people with sight — that will also read a book to you using text-to-speech technology. It seems like this is the type of thing the blind people would love. The company has actually helped make it easier for them to read and to buy books that they can read audibly with the push of a button.

Unfortunately that’s not the way they see it. There is a current lawsuit against Amazon by a group of blind people saying that the device doesn’t make it easy enough for them. I don’t understand why they aren’t suing every television manufacturers well. Or everyone who has ever published the book. All those devices make it impossible for people to read them. The Kindle is one of the few devices actually makes it easier for blind people to read and yet they are being sued because it’s not easy enough.
